About Valleyview

With the South Thompson River running West to the North of Valleyview, the Trans Canada Hwy dividing some of Valleview from its Southern parts and the silt hills the back drop to the South, Valleyview is an established area of Kamloops that incorporates, condos, older homes with newer homes renovated or rebuilt on established lots.

The Trans-Canada Highway, Valleyview drive, Highland Rd up to Juniper West, The Highlands and Juniper with Rose Hill Road starting at the fire hall up to Rose Hill are the major streets in the area.

Interesting Fact

You will notice that all of VV is built down by the river with no development you can see South up the hill till you look way up. The reason being is that Kamloops and especially noticeable the VV area is built on an ancient river bed with the area un developed a silt bed from the river as it dropped over millions of years to the level at the floor of the valley you now see.

Across the river to the North is the First nations Land with Sun Rivers development perched atop. When the freshet (runoff) finishes in May, you will at times see fossil collectors sifting on the banks as arrow heads and such are regularly found from past Native camps and villages.

The river is your play area with the road to Juniper giving you access to the Kamloops Bike Ranch. Kamloops known for its amazing trail riding is also the home of some Knarly down Hill riding. If you have a DH bike or an XC you will find plenty of riding here. To the top of pretty much any area of town will give you access to hundreds of trails which if you talk to the locals all connect.

If playing in the South Thompson River VV has its own boat launch off TCH to River Rd to Thompson Drive. Watch out where you park, they will tow. This is where most tubers launch pulling out 2 hours later down at the down town Lorne St area boat launch.

Shopping, banking and restaurants are near at hand, with many strip style malls serving the HWY traffic. Dentist and doctors also nearby, auto parts, Starbucks Timmies and most take out available.
