Most often the weather pattern blows up Kamloops Lake, East towards the Loops then makes a turn up the North Thompson River. Batchelor Heights, Kamloops, B.C. is ten minutes north of Kamloops city centre. Batchelor Heights sits above Westmount, having beautiful panoramic views of the city and river valley below. Depending where you sit the views are North up the North Thompson River and South to the City of Kamloops.

Name Origin

Batchelor Hills is a neighbourhood of the city of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada Its name derives from that of Batchelor Hill, a local landmark named for Owen Salisbury Batchelor, an early settler, prospector and rancher who lived in the area.


The Kamloops Rivers trail runs below the Batchelor area along the river. Westsyde road is a bike route that is flat where you see many road riders taking a spin. Behind Batchelor to the West are the Lac Du Bois Grasslands, a prime biking, fishing and motorbike area. Boating up the North Thompson River is pretty restrictive as it is not buoyed. The adventurous knowledgeable boater will find the exploration North on this river exciting and spiritual.


There are a few corner stores in the area a wonderful sushi restaurant, Nishino Sushi, a pub and a small shopping Mall containing a liquor store and a Save on Foods.
